Julieanne Morton

Julieanne Ngwarraye Morton was born in 1975 in Alice Springs to Lilly Kemarra Morton, a senior artist from Ampilatwatja who part of the Utopian Batik movement in was the 1980s and was a respected elder of the community. Her grandfather’s country was Antarrengeny and her grandmother’s mother’s country was Aherrenge. Julieanne grew up painting with the women of her family and became a well‑known artist in her community, alongside her sister Jessie Ngwarraye Ross and her aunt Daisy Kemarre Moss. She had two daughters and painted stories and landscapes from her Alyawarr country, often depicting bush medicine plants and seasonal changes through her work.
