PNA648: Pauline Nampijinpa Singleton: YANKIRRI JUKURRPA (EMU DREAMING), This particular site of the Yankirri Jukurrpa (Emu Dreaming) is at Ngarlikurlangu, north of Yuendumu. The ‘yankirri’ travelled to the rockhole at Ngarlikurlangu to find water. Emus are usually represented by their ‘wirliya’ (footprints), arrow-like shapes that show them walking around eating ‘yakajirri’ (bush raisins).

NPG937: Nelly Patterson: SEVEN SISTERS (TJUKURPA), This is an epic Tjukurpa (creation story). A man, Wati Nyiru, chases seven sisters across Australia, shaping the land as they go. He wanted to marry the eldest sister and sang about how much he wanted her. The girls kept running and escaped into the sky, becoming the Pleiades constellation, while Wati Nyiru became Orion, forever unable to catch the sisters.

DYM922: Damien and Yilpi Marks: TALI (SANDHILLS), This image depicts the sandhills of Damien’s country, Mount Liebig, towards Papunya. From a distance, the wind blows through the sand, causing the hills to shift and change shape. The ripples, undulations, and ridges in the sand create beautiful patterns.
