Milly Morton

Milly has very strong ties to Country. She was born in the bush, with no walls around her, and grew up in her mother’s country.

Milly’s father was working fencing boundaries at Amaroo Station. This is where the family settled, and as was common, the family took the surname of the station owner.

Milly first started painting around 1999, when Desart Inc. ran workshops in the community. Painting is ‘mwarre’ (good), says Milly.

Using a close textural dotting style, Milly achieves a highly plush and luxurious impression.
