Olivia Wilson
Olivia is an emerging artist of Kaurna and Narungga background. She has grown up with Better World Arts and spent the earliest part of her life watching and learning from Pitjantjatjara and Yankunytjatjara artists, absorbing their stories and techniques, learning cultural information. Before starting school, Olivia had a role in the business, putting stickers onto the bottom of lacquerware items. After starting school, she would come into the workshops and gallery after her day of learning with school friends. Olivia now plays a vital role in the daily functioning of Better World Arts, and in 2020 she achieved a degree in International Business from Adelaide University. Olivia is a talented photographer who uses her patience and perfectionistic talent to achieve results. Some of the best photos on our website come from her camera. She also photoshops the images, does some bookkeeping, drives the forklift, and then does some modelling for us as well. Her best friend is Kashmir, her Koolie dog who is a support worker at Better World Arts. Olivia has painted a water hole, which was vital in ancient Australia for the survival of animals and people, and a popular motif with the Pitjantjatjara/Yankunytjatjara artists, as it is significant in so many Dreaming stories, as well as providing water. Between the variety of tasks in her significant role at Better World Arts, Olivia will continue her development as a painter.
