Handmade Wool Rugs
Authentic Australian Aboriginal art and Indigenous designs are united with the traditional handicraft of gabba, practiced in a small region of Kashmir, in India and Pakistan. We source from the Indian side, working with the world’s best zalakados (gabba artisans). Expertly crafted using hand-dyed wool and traditional Kashmiri chainstitch embroidery, these unique rugs bring warmth, texture and cultural storytelling into the home or corporate enviornment.
Each rug has a sleeve sewn along one edge so they can also b e used as a wall hanging. The backing on the rugs have a non slip texture applied to the canvas to keep them sitting firmly on the floor.

THE ART BEHIND EVERY RUG
Each rug begins with licensed artwork created by an Aboriginal artist. Through a careful process of interpretation and hand embroidery, skilled artisans recreate the original design using traditional chainstitch techniques. The result is a richly textured piece that honours the artist’s vision while showcasing exceptional craftsmanship.
A UNIQUE CULTURAL PARTNERSHIP
Our rugs are the result of a long-standing collaboration between Aboriginal artists and artisan communities in the Kashmir Valley. This partnership creates meaningful economic opportunities for both groups while celebrating the exchange of artistic traditions and cultural knowledge.
HANDCRAFTED USING TRADITIONAL TECHNIQUES
Every rug is individually handcrafted using chainstitch embroidery, a technique that has been practised in Kashmir for centuries. Artisans use hand-dyed wool and specialised tools to stitch intricate designs onto a cotton canvas base, creating pieces that are both durable and unique.
SUPPORTING ARTISTS THROUGH ROYALTIES
Aboriginal artists receive royalties from every rug sold featuring their artwork. This ensures artists are fairly recognised for their creativity and helps create sustainable income streams that support artists, families and communities over the long term.
NATURAL MATERIALS & LASTING QUALITY
Our rugs are crafted using natural wool embroidery on a cotton canvas foundation. These quality materials provide warmth, texture and durability, making each rug a timeless addition to your home.
