The horse has been domesticated for over 6,000 years. Generally not an endangered species, many breeds are endangered. The wild Przewalski’s horse (Equus Ferus) was declared extinct in 1966. Zoological populations have enabled reintroduction of the horses to their native habitat in Mongolia, but numbers are still extremely fragile.
