YIRRIKIPAYI (CROCODILE)
Yirrikipayi is a Tiwi term for the salt-water crocodile, the largest living reptile and one of the fiercest predators in the world. The Yirrikipayi holds great cultural significance for the Tiwi people. This design represents the ceremonial and ancestral origins of the Yirrikipayi, a knowledge and story that has been passed down through generations from birth.
